Job Summary:
The Animation Director is responsible for overseeing and directing the animation team in the production of high-quality animated content for films. They play a critical role in the overall creative and technical execution of animation projects, ensuring that the artistic vision is realized while meeting project deadlines and budgetary requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate with the Film Production Director, Art Director, and other key stakeholders to establish the overall artistic direction and animation style for each film project.
2. Lead and supervise the animation team, providing guidance, feedback, and mentorship to ensure the delivery of exceptional animation work.
3. Ensure the animation team adheres to project timelines, milestones, and quality standards, while effectively managing resources and resolving any production issues.
4. Review and approve storyboards, character designs, and animation assets to ensure consistency with the project's artistic vision and technical requirements.
5. Collaborate with the technical team to implement animation tools, pipelines, and processes that optimize efficiency and quality of work.
6. Conduct regular meetings and presentations to communicate project updates, expectations, and feedback to the animation team, producers, and other stakeholders.
7. Stay up-to-date with industry trends, technologies, and techniques related to animation, and explore innovative approaches to enhance the quality and impact of animation work.
Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Animation, Fine Arts, or a related field.
2. Proven experience as an Animation Director or a similar role in the film or animation industry.
3. Proficiency in industry-standard animation software such as Maya, 3ds Max, or similar.
4. Strong understanding of traditional and digital animation techniques, principles, and processes.
5. Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a creative team.
6. Exceptional artistic and storytelling abilities, with a keen eye for detail, composition, and visual aesthetics.
7. Solid knowledge of cinematography, lighting, and color theory as it relates to animation.
8. In-depth understanding of the animation production pipeline and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
9. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
10. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet project deadlines.
